A 43-year-old woman is in critical condition after being stabbed and nearly raped by a man who sexually assaulted her as she walked home from work. Police say the man followed and cornered his victim in a room after assaulting her, then kicked and punched her repeatedly until she lost consciousness. The woman’s brother came home about 7 a.m. Friday and found her unconscious on the floor with bruises covering her body, police said. Nineteen-year-old Tyrone Hicks was arrested and charged with attempted rape and assault for this heinous crime. The 43-year-old victim was in critical condition after the attack, which happened on June 12 near West 145th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard. She’s been upgraded to stable condition and is expected to survive. The retired hospital worker, who has asked not to be identified, was walking home from work when she was approached by a man who choked her and began to undress her, police said. He then beat her head with a hard object. A young man, who reportedly tried to rape a woman was captured on video trying to bash her head in with a brick. it’s sickening. But it could have been worse. That woman, 43-year-old Monica Smith is a real fighter. She was able to survive and is now in critical condition at Harlem Hospital Center where she is fighting for her life. and found Brandon Ferguson lying on the floor in the living room with his head resting on a pillow and his feet up against the couch, officials said.
