Tom Corson the chairman, COO of Warner records, and Aaron Bay-Schuck, co-chairman, and CEO of warner records passed out a joint statement and said that Ostin was one of the greatest record men of his time and he is also a prime architect for the modern music business. They added that Ostin always used to give priority to other artists and he used to realize their artistic vision. They added that Ostin was one of the most pivotal figures from the warner music groups back in the 1960s. Ostin was included in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame back in 2003. Ostin also received the Trustees award from the recording academy in 2017.

Ostin was born in Morris Meyer Ostrofsky, New York. He moved from New York to Los Angeles and attended Fairfax High School and UCLA. Ostin initiated his career with Verve records back in 1960 and then three years later he went to work with Warner Bros. He became the president of Warner Bors in 1970 after seven years of working with them and he worked with warner bros as their chairman until 1994. Don Henley, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, Goerge Benson, Chaka Khan, Dire Straits, Green Day, and Prince signed with the label in 1977. Prince left the label in 1996 and returned back in 2016, Ostin called him a genius and compared him with Sinatra. Even after Ostin left the records label, he was still in contact with many artists from the records and they used to appreciate him for his work. Red Hot Chili Peppers Flea was one of the artists who were in contact with Ostina and they paid tribute to Ostin on Instagram saying that Ostin was a true gentleman who was honest, kind, and beloved. He added that Ostin was the greatest person in the music business and that Ostin used to make him feel valued, favored, and understood. Flea added that he was a kid when he started and Ostin helped him a lot while growing up. Former Warner Bros Executive Stan Cornyn said in a statement that Ostin was a brilliant person who never them how to do their job. Ostin passed away while he was in his sleep on the 31st of July 2022. He had his wife Evelyn, his two sons Randy and Kenny who preceded him in death but he was survived by his third son Michael.
