Who Is Portugal’s Health Minister?
The name of the Health Minister is Marta Temido who had been holding the position since the year 2018. She had recently stepped down from her post and leaves her all duties. The decision of the former health minister came into the news after the unexpected demise of a pregnant tourist who has rejected medical help because of a copious maternity ward. As per the reports, the 34-years-old dead lady was being shifted from Lisbon to the main medical institution named Santa Maria since its pedology unit was full, though she go through a heart attack when she was in the ambulance.
Why Did Portugal’s Health Minister Resigns?
The Indian lady was thirty-one weeks pregnant and she had been admitted to the hospital after she started experiencing difficulty in breathing. Later on, she gets a heart attack, she was instantly shifted to the 2nd medical institution where an emergency Cesarean delivery was performed and the infant was then admitted to the care unit neonatal. Several of the critics of Temido alleged the decision of the minister to temporarily close the services of emergency obstetrics because of the lack or the shortage of medical staff particularly doctors for the disaster.
Portugal’s Health Minister Resign Reason
This is not the first case as within the past few months back, several such cases have been reported in Portugal and all of these happened just because of the shortage of access to crisis healthcare. As per the reports, recently 2 babies lost their lives because of the delay caused when the mothers of the infants had to change medical institutions. Since then the minister was facing criticism and now this case has enraged the citizens and they began to protest against her. The opposition party also called for the former Health Minister to resign from her post as just because of her the pregnant ladies are risking their lives and some of them lost their lives.
